Google Applications For Educators
Google Presentation
CEP 812 Group Project
Google Presentations can be used to collaboratively create presentations. This is an example of a group project completed in CEP 812. I was able to work with two other students to create a finished product while all three of us lived in other states.
Google Spreadsheet
2012 Scratch Game Spreadsheet
Last year, I had the opportunity to use Google Spreadsheet collaboratively with my entire 8th grade on a project. Students were to create a game using Scratch. They were to identify their partners, what standard the project covered, as well as a sneak preview link to their game. This was a great opportunity for the students to share what they had created, and the spreadsheet really helped keep me organized.
Google Forms
Technology Survey
Google Forms have become an integral part of my daily life as an educator and student. I have used forms to gather data for research as well as gathering data on my students. Using Flubaroo, I have been able to grade online assignments in a single step, and get reports an analyze student performance.
Google Docs
TPaCK Group Project
Google Docs allow you to create and share your work online and access your documents from anywhere. This is an example of a TPaCK WebQuest Evaluation done collaboratively by myself and two other students.
Web 2.0
Prezi
Leadership Project
Prezi is a collaborative and interactive presentation tool. I have used Prezi in the classroom with my students as well as for my own coursework in the MAET program. This is an example of the 7 Transformations of Leadership from CEP 815.
VoiceThread
Self Introduction
VoiceThread provides everyone with a tool for creating simple and secure spaces to communicate and collaborate online. VoiceThread has found a way to "humanize" the experience of online classes with collaboration and interaction between the content, the students, and the instructor. This is an example of a VoiceThread created in the Fall of 2011 to introduce myself to my classmates while enrolled in the MAET Program at Michigan State University.
Wikispaces
Garrett Middle School's Math Wikipage
This page contains links to tools that educators can use as they infuse 21st century learning experiences into the classroom. I created this page during the MAET program and shared this site with my level department. We continue to add things to the site each year.
Screencasts
Student presentation of ALEKS
During my MAET program, I learned about screencasting using tools like Jing and Camtasia. For this project, I had students create a presentation about what they were doing in math class for Back To School Night. The students were asked to use keynote, powerpoint, or iMovie. This was an exemplar project completed this year.
Web-Based Presentations
Personal Growth Plan
This is my Personal Growth Plan Created in CEP 812. For this presentation I used MyBrainShark along with powerpoint slides and audacity. I feel that my one of my greatest area of growth has been in my manipulation of audio, video, images, and text. As a result of these courses, I have used my knowledge to help students and my fellow colleagues to ceate great projects and presentations.
Podcasting
How The Internet Works-Student Interview
I have had the opportunity during my MAET program to learn about podcasting using Audacity. This project was focused on understanding student understanding . The project was to be edited with only high quality sound remaining. Transitions where used to make each section flow while background audio was kept balanced as to not overpower the primary objective. This is an example of an interview with my students to documents their understanding of "how the internet work."
Learning Management Systems
Online CourseSite
CourseSites - by Blackboard
This is an example of a free content management system using CourseSites by Blackboard that was created during my MAET Program. My 8th Grade Math course currently included a module on exponents and roots. I look forward to using my experiences from MAET program to help others create their own online courses.
