CEP 810: Teaching For Understanding With Technology
Instructors: Carolyn McCarthy & Dr. Sandra Plair
Technology Used: Google Doc's and Calendar, Blogspot, RSS, Diigo, Twitter, Prezi
In this course we covered a wide range of topics like Personal Learning Networks, Getting Things Done, Copyright, Internet Security, Digital Citizenship, Creativity, TPACK, Learning Theories, Cloud Computing, International, state and school technology standards, and Mobile Learning. Social Networks, Blogs, RSS, Social Bookmarking, Creative Commons, Productivity Tools, Twitter, and Google Calendar. It was a bit overwhelming at first, but it made me realize just how much I needed to learn and grow. The most meaningful piece of work that was done this semester was my blog. It is a permanent reminder of the journey I began just over a year ago.

My StAIR
CEP 811: Adapting Innovative Technologies In Education
Instructor: Melissa White
Technology Used: Netfiles, MERLOT, WebQuests, and StAIRS
We learned to apply instructional principles and methods to educational problems; to develop individualized media and computer applications for use in a professional setting; and to adapt advanced software options to promote learning. Specifically, the focus of this course was to development of stand-alone instructional resources using the Internet and PowerPoint. My StAIR (Stand-Alone Instructional Resources) was a great opportunity for me to create something that is authentic to my own teaching and classroom needs as well as a strategy for integrating technology. The UDL Principles really helped me think about additional strategies for differentiating my instruction for the different learning styles and needs of my students.

CEP 812: Applying Educational Technology To Issues Of Practice Instructors: Carolyn McCarthy & Jodi Spicer Technology Used: Podcasts, Audacity, Jing, Camtasia, Screencast, and iMovie In this course, I defined, implemented, and evaluated a technology-based solutions to educational problems that existed in my school setting. Building on the work completed in CEP 810 and 811, I created a solution that involved the use of WebQuest's and student created tutorials to address the need for students to better understand fractions. My plan addressed the Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK). The complete transcript from my project is below. |
CEP 800: Psychology Of Learning In School And Other Settings
Instructors: Dr. Cary Roseth & Z. Mural Technology Used: Audacity, Podcast, iMovie In this course, we studied several major psychological learning theories to help us better appreciate and connect our teaching strategies with our students. We learned quite a bit about student’s prior knowledge and false preconceived ideas. I learned to explore and unravel a students private theories to make new and correct connections. By constantly examining the relationship between the ideas about learning introduced in this course and the learning situations in the students’ world outside of this course, we find greater meaning and significance in both. This is an example of a Digital Story Telling about a student and her struggles with Integers. |

CEP 805: Learning Mathematics With Technology
Instructors: Ralph Putnam & E. Kim
Technology Used: Geometer's Sketchpad, Wiki's
In this course we covered the interaction of school mathematics content, technology that supports mathematics teaching and learning, and the cognitive and social processes of learning aligned with the Principles and Standards of School Mathematics. This is an example is my resource library, which was broken down into the seven different strands (number sense, computation, algebra etc..), so that I can continue to build my resources for future reference. It is a resource that is attached to my website for other teachers, students, and parents to see.

CEP 815: Technology and Leadership
Instructors: Luke Rapa & Nick Sheltrown Technology Used: Google Docs and Forms, Prezi, Twitter This course helped me to examine the aims of education, the history/evolution of technology, the principles of leadership, and the intersection of these three elements. New technologies not only have the potential of changing what and how students learn, but they can also alter the task of teaching in significant ways. The poster to the right is an example of a leadership poster created in the course. The example below an assignment that asked us to evaluate Hatie's Six Factors On Student Achievement. We then looked at how these factors influence student achievement, common technologies used, the opportunities that those technologies represent, and the possible challenges or problems created through technology. |

CEP 822: Approaches To Educational Research
Instructors: S. Sawaya & E. Wong
Technology Used: Google Docs, Online Library Resources
One of the goals for this course was to be better consumers of existing research, including developing a working knowledge of basic research strategies, methodology, and practices. Our goals also included being better producers of knowledge about teaching through systematic inquiry of educational practices. In this course I was given the opportunity to search for and review studies in my area of professional interest. Below is my final research proposal project which included research on video-based instruction in the classroom to improve student achievement.

CEP 820: Teaching K12 Students Online
Instructors: S. Leahy, M. Schira, A. Heint
Technology Used: Google, Jing, Camtasia, Educreations App, Content Management Systems
In this course, I explored ways in which K-12 teachers can bring the world into their classrooms with technology to better meet the educational needs of students. The course focused on ways in which teachers and students can broadcast their ideas and information to the outside world for purposes of collaboration and communication. This is an example of my online math module. It currently included a one unit module on exponents and roots. I will continue to expand upon my content in the following months and years.
